This year’s Research Showcase surpassed all expectations with 14 teams presenting projects covering a wide array of topics including disability justice in urban planning, ride-on cars for early childhood mobility impairments, and 3D printing of assistive technologies.

We were honored to host panelists from the AHSHAY Center, Provail, Open Doors for Multicultural Families, UW’s Taskar Center for Accessible Technology, and the University of Maryland’s iSchool.

This year’s panels included engaging discussions on the disproportionate impact of access to assistive technology on children with disabilities in BIPOC and immigrant communities as well as the issues that arise with the intersection of accessibility and biometric technologies.

After last year’s fully virtual event, we were thrilled to be able to host a hybrid event this year in which participants were given the choice of attending our engaging panels and research showcase in-person or virtually according to their own needs and preferences. With over 100 registered participants and presenters, this year’s event demonstrates strong growth. Community Day 2022 wrap-upĬREATE’s 2nd Annual Community Day took place on June 8th and was a tremendous success. Student researchers highlight their work and showcase a variety of individual projects.
